Candidate

We aim to provide a personal, fast, and transparent interview experience for both of us.

Trust us, we know finding a job can be a very intense, painful, and frustrating process. We have been through it ourselves many times!

But it doesn't have to be like that - It can also happen to be a really great experience right? Even if it doesn't result in an offer. After all, it's about building relationships, meeting great and inspiring people, and learning from each other how to be better humans!

Our promise:

  • We promise you to not treat this just like a "human resource" process. Our focus is on building relationships, having interesting and meaningful conversations vs conducting "interviews".
  • We aim to provide a highly personal, fast, and transparent candidate experience.
  • We provide you with personal feedback at any stage of the process - no matter what the outcome is. See Rejection Feedback?
  • We make sure to describe which skills are absolutely necessary from the start and which you can "learn on the job". There are Senior positions that e.g. require extensive knowledge in DDD. If you don't have it yet, better consider to make an open application.
  • We only publish positions we are actively hiring for. If a position is not available immediately we mention it clearly. In case we decide to put a position on hold or postpone the start date we will let you know asap. A good initiative to proof that is our Corona Hiring Sheet
  • We are eager to listen to your feedback - whatever it is. Help us to improve constantly!
  • After all, we aim to build relationships: In our capacity, we try to go the extra mile, provide you with tips on further job search, and recommend you to our network if possible! We have helped a lot of candidates to land jobs at other befriended startups and aim to avoid making rejection the main product of an interview process.

What we expect from you:

Take your time to understand the requirements for the role
  • "Oh no! I’m not ticking all the boxes!” We’re hiring for the slope, not the y-intercept.
  • Be realistic if you can thrive the role and are able to keep up with the pace. There are Senior positions that e.g. require extensive knowledge in DDD. If you don't have it yet, better consider to make an open application.
  • There are positions, that allow more or less room for "learning it on the job". We make sure to make that clear in the description.
  • In case you are not an ideal match, no problem - Just be transparent what you have and what you need want to learn.
  • If you are unsure or have any questions, just ask! (https://t.me/golayer or open@golayer.io)

💡 No matching position? Send us your open application instead!

We are constantly looking for outstanding individuals to join our team. What makes someone outstanding for us: Deep professional expertise, a willingness to go the extra mile and a hands-on mentality, authenticity, and a passion to develop yourself both professionally and personally. Please send us your application or questions to careers@golayer.io or Apply for your Dream Job (Talent Pool & Upcoming Positions)

Prepare yourself!

By reading this line, you are most likely doing exactly that 🙂 Explore the guide and hammer us with interesting questions. We love curios people!

No CV: We love LinkedIn Profiles 😉

The CV is dead! Long live the CV! Honestly, we prefer a great and updated LinkedIn profile over a (sorry!) often hard to read CV. Plus, it's a standard format that is easy to digest.

And honestly, most of us find it really annoying to keep both updated.

If you are a developer, share your GitHub and projects you are proud of!

No "standard" Cover Letter

Please avoid sending us a standard cover letter a là "Dear Hiring Manager..." that you would attach to any application.

Instead, write is a few lines about your motivation, highlight your experience and what you want to learn at Layer.

That makes such a difference and helps you to cut through the noise!

What Goes Around... Comes Around
Help us to understand your relevant experience better

Highlight your relevant experience and interest in a short summary or cover letter. We also love to see what you have been doing in your past positions and projects.

Instead of a long cover letter, write is a few lines about your motivation, highlight your experience and what you want to learn at Layer.

That makes such a difference and helps you to cut through the noise!

What Goes Around... Comes Around
Share what motivates you about Layer

There are many attractive companies out there and we don't expect you to be totally in love with us before even knowing us.

But still, it will be nice to hear what motivates you to join Layer?

Let us know if you are about to receive an offer soon

We are always trying to be fast, but we are happy to speed things up more in case another company would have the chance to catch you first.

Don't ghost us 👻 Karma is a *****

Tell us if...

  • you lost interest
  • you need to take care of a urgent family matter
  • are unhappy about the process
  • waiting for another offer
  • just accepted one
  • or for whatever reason.
We promise you to do the same.

Tell us what is important for you in the interview process!

Finally, we would love hearing what you expect from us 😇
